Fuze Box Surpasses One Million Registered Users for Fuze Meeting and Fuze Messenger

Growing global demand for web meetings and mobile collaboration, HD video fuels growth for Fuze Box communications platform

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — August 20, 2009 — Fuze Box, the leading global provider of online meeting and mobile collaboration applications, today announced that it has achieved a number of significant growth milestones since the commercial launch of Fuze Meeting, the market's most advanced online application for web conferencing and visual collaboration, in May of this year. The company now has more than 1.1 million registered users of its Fuze Meeting and Fuze Messenger communications services and is adding 150,000 new users per month. The news comes as the company also announces a formal relaunch as Fuze Box.

Other key company growth milestones include:

  • Significant mobile usage: growing adoption of mobile web devices has fueled demand for real-time messaging and online collaboration on a variety of mobile platforms. To date, Fuze Box has had 1.5 million downloads of its mobile applications.
  • Strong global growth: Fuze Box applications are now being used by end users and corporations in over 72 countries, with 50% of Fuze Box users outside the U.S.
  • Demonstrated scalability: Fuze Box is now supporting an average of 100,000 concurrent users on the Fuze Box platform.
  • Rapid adoption of Fuze Meeting: over the past three months, businesses have conducted more than 100,000 web meetings using Fuze Meeting and uploaded over 25,000 business documents representing nearly 7TB of data into the Fuze Box cloud.
  • Growing demand for HD video collaboration: companies are increasingly using Fuze Meeting to share and collaborate on video content, with more than 12,000 videos uploaded into Fuze Meeting to date.

"The Fuze Box visual communications platform is enabling an entirely new class of business and consumer applications that deliver synchronized, rich media content on any device, anywhere in the world," said Jeff Cavins, chief executive officer of Fuze Box. "The rapid adoption of Fuze Box applications in a highly competitive market underscores the growing need for intuitive, low-cost solutions that were built to support the dynamic ways in which people work and communicate today."

Fuze Box is also seeing a growing number of businesses standardizing on the Fuze Meeting application for remote web conferencing and collaboration. One enterprise customer is Arnold Worldwide, a creative communications agency working with brands such as Citizens, Jack Daniel's, Hershey's, Ocean Spray, Volvo, Fidelity Investments, Carnival Cruise Lines, truth and more. Owned by French company Havas, with full-service offices in Boston, DC, New York and London and clients around the world, Arnold uses Fuze Meeting extensively for new business pitches, to share and discuss work with clients and to facilitate collaboration with its distributed team.

"Arnold's product is ideas, and with travel budgets being cut at many companies, we needed a powerful way to present our ideas visually, from anywhere in the world. Fuze Meeting gives us many of the benefits of an in-person meeting without the travel. It is the strongest solution when it comes to video, and we were also impressed with the client experience - you don't want your client to have to download something complicated during a meeting," said Will Burns, EVP, Director of Business Development and Agency Innovation at Arnold. "Fuze Meeting makes complex collaboration simple and quick. We're seeing a dramatic increase in efficiency by using the application, because we can get everyone on the same page at the same time. It's enabling us to better craft, communicate and sell our ideas, and that in turn helps us close more business."

Company Rebranding

The company also announced today that it has formally changed the name of the company from CallWave to Fuze Box. CallWave services, such as internet voicemail and fax, will continue to be available as product lines under the Fuze Box umbrella brand, whose other products include Fuze Meeting, Fuze Messenger and Fuze Movie (currently in beta).

Founded in 1998, CallWave was a pioneer in the area of integrated web telephony and enjoyed substantial commercial success for its web-based voicemail and fax applications, culminating in an IPO in 2004. As the market for its products declined, CallWave focused its attention on the next wave of web-based communications – rich media – and acquired several technology companies to form the basis of a new visual communications platform. The company also hired veteran technology and media executive Jeff Cavins to lead the company's new direction. To give the company more flexibility to evolve its strategy, the board and management recently completed a tender offer to repurchase public shares and effected a take private transaction. The stock was removed from NASDAQ in June.

The company's board includes Peter Sperling, Vice Chairman of Apollo Group and University of Phoenix; Jerry Murdock, founder of Insight Venture Partners; and Jeff Cavins, the company's CEO.
